Streets of Dabu County |
One of the most common modes of transportation. This mode has been slightly altered. |
It was common to find some signs in English. There are usually misspellings. This one has the County name wrong. It should be Dabu County. |
Tai'an Building |
The only entrance to the Tai'an Building. |
A Lantern and a view of the middle section. The middle section was a common area where the families would cook and be social. |
2nd Level view |
Hallway by the outer wall |
Inside one of the rooms |
View from the third level |
Me on the third level |
Ground level |
The middle area: This area would have been used for cooking during its time. |
Middle area of the Tai'an Building. The red on the ground is firecracker remains. Firecrackers were constantly going off as it was the week of Spring Festival and the New Year. |

Interesting. Lots to see there eh...
Notice that the balconies on the buildings are like cages. Is there a danger of ninjas climbing up and attacking the occupants? How many families would have lived in Hai’an (or is it Tai’an) house? Or was it one big extended family? Mom
It is Tai'an house. I've corrected the mistakes that I saw. I will have to get back to you on your other questions.
As for the balconies with cages, that is something you see in the small county cities. They are not as common in the big cities. They are thief (or ninja) deterrents. They also prevent items like flower pots from being knocked off and hitting people below. Of course, they don't look good, and they are a fire issue. Which is why the big cities are trying to get rid of them.
