Aeroplane

I left Scotland on May the 12th. When I was researching flights for this trip, I came across Icelandair. They had some of the best prices for flights across the Pond. Iceland is a place that was high on my wish list of places to see. This was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up; I had to make a stopover in Iceland. So on Sunday, May the 12th, I flew from Glascow to Keflavik International Airport in Iceland. I arrived in Iceland in latter half of the afternoon.

I rented a car in Iceland. While I never drove in Scotland, I did initially found myself wanting drive on left in Iceland. Thankfully, that feeling quickly went away. I drove to Mosfellsbær which is just northeast of Reykjavik. I had a hotel there which was less than special. It was a place to stay though. With the evening being young, I decided to go for a drive. I drove to Hvalfjörður which is a fjord that is about 30 km long a 5 km wide. The US and the British had naval bases here during World War II. The historic markers along the road were written in Icelandic and in English. Anyway, here are some pictures from my first evening in Iceland.

Interesting pictures. But I bet you had to count the trees on you drive to keep from getting bored.

Bored? He's got to be kidding! With all that gorgeous scenery--land and sky--around, who could be bored. I bet you had itchy feet from wanting to get out and explore on foot. Mom
