Wednesday, May 8th was a busy day. So much so, that I will take two posts to do this day. The day started by taking a ferry from Oban to Craignure on the Isle of Mull.

From Craignure, I took a bus across the Isle of Mull to Frionnphort. The road across Mull is one-lane with lots of pullouts for oncoming traffic. It rained off and on during the bus ride. It was still quite scenic.

From Frionnphort, I got on a boat that took me to the Isle of Staffa. Nobody lives on the Isle of Staffa. Landing on Staffa depends upon the winds. I wasn’t sure if we would be able to land because it was a bit windy. Fortunately, we were able to make a landing. The captain was worried about the winds, but he gave us 30 minutes on shore. I had time to check out Fingal’s Cave and hike to the highest point of Staffa. With all of the basalt columns, Staffa had a very alien look to it. I was quite intrigued by the isle.

After 30 minutes on Staffa, which was way too short, we got back on the boat for our next destination. That is for the next post though…
